SEA Games Launch Party is here!

What an honour to be the hosting country for the 28th SEA Games! How better to celebrate the togetherness of our neighboring countries than to hold games like this to have fun together and compete in the name of sports! (By the way, SEA Games is short for South-East Asian Games - this is for the benefit of the foreigners; I'm sure all Singaporeans know what's up, right? Oh, you'd better!)

As you can already see from the picture above, the SEA Games Launch Party will be at the Meadow, Gardens by the Bay and we'll be partying on 15th Feb 2014, from 5:30pm till 11pm. Even if you're not so into sports, be sure to be entertained by artists like Daphne Khoo, The Muttons and other celebrities!

I'm sure it's gonna be an exciting time! After all the hype I've been hearing about the SEA Games, I'm all pumped up! So go on, grab your family and friends down and join in for a great time there together too! Expect lots of fun mingling around in this festive event and you'll have a great Saturday!

a series of strange events

"Let me recount to you a story, about my encounter with strange customers.

One fine day, I saw this lady in front of my Hokkien Mee stall. As she was contemplating whether or not to buy a packet for herself, several passer-bys advised her not to patronize my shop, due to the food poisoning incident that implicated my stall 1000 years ago.

Then along came this person, who spoke directly against my stall, saying that it does not taste as well as it appears on the display boards.

'All Char Kway Teows are like that, all terrible. It's bad for health and its fattening. Don't patronize him,' she said.

I was slightly perplexed as I was not selling Char Kway Teow --- I was selling Hokkien Mee. But she was insistent. What can one do in such a situation? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

As I was deep in thoughts, I noticed that this person was queueing for Char Kway Teow in another stall..."

A Visit To An International School Owned By My Buddy's Family

Had an amazing day at the international school owned by one of my friend's family, touring around the big school, looking at what the kids are learning, and it really brings back memories when I was still in my early years of education. As we chatted, my friend shared with me how the vision to build the school came about, and how great faith move mountains for them. 

It wouldn't be easy at first, but eventually, we will be living in our dreams, where we would be in a place we wanted, a place we can call Happily Ever After.

How bad do you want to succeed

So the story goes like this:

There was a young man who wants to make a lot of money. He went to this rich man and told the rich man that he wants to be successful --- he wants to be on the same level of accomplishment as the rich man.

The rich man replied, "if you want to be on the same level as I am, meet me tomorrow at the beach."

So the young man got there at 4am, ready to get into action.

"How bad do you want to be successful?" The rich man asked.

He replied, "real bad."

Then the rich man said, "alright, then walk out into the water."

So the young man walked out towards the sea and went in waist deep into the water and thought to himself that this rich man was crazy. He said to the rich man, "I want to make money; I'm not here to swim. I didn’t ask to be a life guard. I want to make money."

So the rich man said, "Come on, walk deeper into the water."

The young man took a few more steps and now the water is at his chest level. He thought to himself again, "this rich man is making money, but he is definitely crazy."

The rich man asked the young man to walk deeper into the water again, where the water level was right at his mouth. The young man then exclaimed, “I am not going in any deeper!”

The rich man replied, saying, “I thought you wanted to be successful."

The young man replied, “I do.”

The rich man said again, “walk deeper into the water.” 

As the young man walked deeper into the water, the rich man pushed down the young man’s head into the water and held the young man's head down, even though the young man was struggling. Just as the young man was about to pass out, the rich man raised him out of the water.

Rich man said, “When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe then you will be successful.”

Have you ever experienced shortness of breath before? At that moment, all you could care about was to get some air. You would not be caring about basketball games, what’s on tv, or what anybody would say about you. The only thing you care about when you try to breathe is to get some fresh air. That’s it. And when you get to the point when all you want to do is to be successful as bad as you want to breathe, that's when you will be successful.

Most of you say you want to be successful, but you don’t want it badly. It's like you kinda want it, but you're not desperate enough to forsake other things in exchange for your success. You would rather party than put in effort to attain success. You would rather be idling than set aside time to work towards success. Most of you don’t want success as much as you want to give up. Some of you want to give up more than you want to be successful.

I am here to tell you that if you want to be successful, you got to be willing to give up giving up. Do not give up because the opportunity to be successful might be just around the bend! You got to want to succeed so badly that you are able to make sacrifices for your goals. Don't quit halfway --- get your deserved reward from all your labour if you persevere till the end, till you see your dreams fulfilled! Don't go giving up until you succeed. Today you can read this and be excited about being successful but listen to me. You must need to be successful then you will be successful.
